Performers like Ludacris, Sean Paul and Xzibit were featured in the story. Most of its success came from the impressive cast consisting of musicians, actors and other celebrities. It even featured intrigue and betrayal, with friends turning into foes and supposed villains becoming trusted allies. Similarly to Need for Speed: Underground, the plot was told through brief cutscenes and never overstayed its welcome. It was a simple, but nonetheless enjoyable story, especially for the genre. They were opposed by Crow’s crew, who wanted for nothing less than to maintain a dominant position in the city. After saving D-Mob, the protagonist of Vendetta from being imprisoned, the character joins his crew to help him take over the city’s fighting scene. In Def Jam: Fight for NY, however, players were not delivering pizza, but rather jaw-shattering hooks.Ĭhoosing from preset facial and body features, players took control of a custom character created at the start of the game. A hero’s motivation to fight is just as important as how Johnny Sins ended up becoming a pizza boy. Neither does porn, but context sure as heck doesn’t hurt. now here's another one, and if you fail that, tough luck! I never fell in love with the "So you just finished one tournament, and your fingers are bleeding. 'till your fingers fall off,ģ) lower the difficulty (meaning you can never unlock all bliss moves). Since it's pretty linear, you can't allways go on with some other tournaments to beef up. Had to go down to Easy to get *anywhere* in those. I found some of the matches (about mid-game) to be crazy hard. Now you have to watch you spendings or you might not be able to buy that $100,000 ear-ring, etc. Would have been nice to do some of the first fights again, but this time with a beefed up char.- View image here:. If you win the first match and loose the second, then you're out of that tournament, right? Yeah, but thers a limited number of matches. Not being the first guy to buy is really helping my wallet.

The other good thing was that I got the game used for $13 at Gamestop. In the later levels the computer blocks more and counters more, making timing of your blocks a lot more important. Timing is really everything and even after a couple of days playing I only do the counters randomly. The game is difficult to some degree on normal mode, but there is definitely a rhythm to the game that you need to get into to make it work. Luckily folks have FAQs out there that answer a lot of questions.

Overall, the game has a lot of replay value, though I wish you had more ability to configure the basic moves you use and quite obviously the instruction manual is horrible. Then the burning moves that they give you to choose from are entertaining as well. I didn't realize it at first, but my frequent wardrobe upgrades helped out with the charisma factor so I would burn quicker.

My wife had fun with the buying of the clothes, bling, tattoos and hairstyles. I started off being a submission style (pretty difficult to start with) and then upgraded to kickboxing (pretty sweet) and finally streetfighting (which after kickboxing was kind of a letdown). Then they left and I started playing the single player mode. Team attacks, when you can get them off, are really super. Being able to grab an object from the crowd and break it over your opponent's head is an added bonus. The various styles just work somehow and the environmental attacks are great.

With four players the game is just mayhem, especially when you do Free For All mode. Then when they got here we hooked up four controllers and started out with multiplayer and I have to say it is hilarious.Ĭries of, "Throw him into the speaker!" and "Grab the pipe, hit him hit him!" rang out in the room quite frequently. So, until my buddy and some friends came over this past weekend I didn't bother picking up the game. "Harvey, you gotta get this game, best fighting game in a while!" So my buddy who is into fighting games told me about this game a while ago.
